Down the memory lane
The journey began in 1934, and the collective zeal carried the legacy all through while stepping into the 83rd year in 2016. There were tides and ebbs, yet the collectivism won, and the emotional bond of the Gouriberia Palli or the Para kept the residents united under the banner of the Gouriberia Sarbojanin Durgotsab O Pradarshani, one of the oldest traditional Baro-yari or Baroyari Durgotsab. The word ‘Baroyari’ was coined in the late eighteenth century literally to mean twelve mates or a group of friends who pal up to organize a social event. And that happened in Gouriberia Palli too.
A landmark puja in North Kolkata with Eminent Patrons
With the passage of time, the Gouriberia Sarbojanin Durgotsab O Pradarshani attained fame and grew to be a mile-stone of Durga Pujas of the north Calcutta (later Kolkata). Persons of eminence came forward to patronize the festival. We take immense pride to shout out that the former Mayor of Calcutta, late Shri Sudhir Ranjan Roychowdhury, a resident of Gouriberia Palli, adorned the chair of the President during the years 1945 and 1947. To name a few more dignitaries, the Puja was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister late Shri Siddhartha Shankar Ray in 1972, and also in 1999 by His Excellency Shri Shyamal Kumar Sen, the erstwhile Governor of West Bengal.
The 2015 attained glam and glory

So were we the awardees of the ‘Best Puja’ from Snocem Ananda Argha in the year 1999 and also in 2015 jointly from Incoda TV & the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of West Bengal. The honour of receiving the ‘Jury Award’ was showered on us in the same year. We believe in excellence and want to take sarbojonin Durga Puja to another level of perfection, aesthetics and grandeur. By staying in the hearts of millions of people from every corner of West Bengal with our dedication and achievements we are making Durga Puja, shob theke Shera Puja!
Relive the nostalgia of Bengali Traditions
We celebrate our unique Bangaliana in our own way! The vibrantly joyous festival is seen to be witnessed not just by the localities of Kolkata but also by the foreign visitors flocking in the city during the puja days. So, we maintain bangaliana or the authenticity of the Bengali traditions by creating uniquely themed pandals using local art forms, traditional food preparations such as bhog, rosogolla, peda and typical Bengali decorations like alpana and many more. People from all across the globe who come to witness the grandeur of our Durga Puja celebration take home with them the valuable treasures of Bong tradition and culture that every Bengali is proud of.
